About

Adam Pounders

CTO. AI systems builder. Systems thinker.

How It Started

In high school, I wrote a paper mapping out exactly what college courses you would need to become a hacker. Not theoretical. A real curriculum. Step by step. My teacher gave it an F.

I kept going anyway. That instinct to map the system, understand how it breaks, and build a path through it has been the throughline of everything since. Twenty years later it is still the same work, just at a different scale.

Today I serve as CTO at a cybersecurity firm specializing in pen testing, cloud security, and compliance. I also build AI systems and work on knowledge architecture for technical teams and organizations navigating the intersection of security and AI.

Background

2024–Present

CTO, Cybersecurity Firm

Serving as CTO at a firm specializing in pen testing, cloud security, and compliance. Leading the technical direction while building AI systems and knowledge architecture for clients navigating complex security programs.

2018–2024

Security Leadership

Led security operations and program development across enterprise environments. Built teams, designed processes, and drove programs from reactive postures to deliberate, measurable security functions.

2012–2018

Cybersecurity Practice

Hands-on security work across network defense, incident response, and vulnerability management. This is where the practitioner instincts were built. The ones that now keep strategy grounded in what actually works.

2004–2012

IT Infrastructure

Systems administration, network engineering, and infrastructure design. Twelve years of building things before specializing in breaking them. It turns out to be excellent preparation.

What I Am Working On

Cybersecurity & AI Convergence

How AI capability shifts change the threat surface for defenders and attackers. Building frameworks for organizations navigating AI adoption without expanding their exposure.

AI Systems Architecture

Designing and building AI systems for technical teams. RAG pipelines, workflow automation, and the infrastructure that makes AI output reliable and auditable.

Knowledge Architecture

Building systems that compound knowledge over time rather than losing it. This site is one artifact of that work. A public record of frameworks in progress.
